island attracts a large
number of tourists every

the myriad hues of the
setting sun against the
backdrop of an evening

island got its name due

a much-frequented place
of birds during the
seasonal migrations and
hence, it was named as
the Bird Island or the
Pigeon Island in
Kusadasi.
The name of the Pigeon
Island, Kusadasi was
given to the town during
the times of Ottomans

started to be called as
Kusadasi or Bird

earlier times too. The

the shores or preventing
attacks from the sea.

castle standing on the
rocks at the Pigeon
Island, Kusadasi, which

century. The castle was
used against pirates and
therefore, is known as
the Pirate Castle. A
tower is all that
remains of the
structure. The wall
which will see around
the island can be dated
back to the early 19th
century.

Today, the Pigeon
Island, Kusadasi is
connected to the land by
a mole. And, the place

for leisure and
relaxation. You can

by the shore and savor
