1618 as a strong-room
for the goods of seamen.
- Guvercin Ada -
the peninsula at the end
of the bay, it has a
castle and swimming
beaches, as well as a
private beach and cafe
with a view across the
bay to the harbour of
Kusadasi.
- Kirazli Village
- traditional Turkish
koy 12 kilometers from
Kusadasi.
- Yilanci Burnu -
one more peninsula
beyond Guvercin Ada. It
is supposed to be the
original settlement of
Neopolis. Some walls are
visible. There are
beaches and beach clubs
here.
- Pygale - has
got some aqua-parks with
wave-pools, white-water
slides are located near
the town.
- Ladies Beach -
about 3 km far away from
the centre. Named
because it was once
segregated
for female bathers, now
open to all.
- Kadikalesi - a
Byzantine castle, 10
kilometers along the
Kusadasi-Davutlar road.
- Dilek Peninsula
National Park -
begins at the town of
Guzelcamli. It has got
bays and beaches,
including the bay of
Kalamaki.
After the First World
War, Kusadasi was
invaded by the Greeks
(1919). The city won a
long struggle and in
1922 and became a part
of Turkish Republic.
Izmir was the capital of
Kusadasi until 1954.
Then the capital was
changed to Aydin and the
city of Kusadasi has
shown a good deal of
development, especially
in tourism.
Today, Kusadasi is one
of Turkey's most
sophisticated holiday
centers; it is a perfect
place for vacation with
its sandy beaches and
glassy water. The
contrast between the
lively holiday life and
the quietness of the
